Why convert PNG to WebP
- Web and app icons, illustrations and UI screenshots that are too heavy as PNG.
- Transparent product images for a shop or marketplace that accepts WebP.
- Reducing a design hand-off without flattening transparency.

What to know before you convert
- Transparency is preserved. Partial transparency (soft shadows) is preserved too.
- For pixel-exact results use the compressor's "Exact quality" mode, which writes lossless WebP; the converter's quality setting is lossy.
- Lossy WebP can soften fine text at Strong or Maximum; use Light for screenshots.
