ConvertX

About ConvertX

A small tool with one rule: your images stay on your device.

Why it exists

Most image converters on the web work by uploading your files to someone else's server. For a meme that's fine; for a folder of family photos with GPS coordinates in them, it shouldn't be the default. ConvertX does the same job as a native app, so there is no upload and nothing to trust.

What it is

A bulk image converter and compressor for Android, Windows, macOS and Linux, The Android app is native (Kotlin and Jetpack Compose) on an image engine written in Rust that runs on the device; HEIC is decoded by Android itself. It is free, with no ads.

What it isn't

Not a video, audio, PDF or SVG tool. Not a web app. Not on iOS. Not a cloud service. The FAQ lists the limits plainly, and every page on this site says what the app can't do alongside what it can.

Open-source components

ConvertX is built on open-source libraries, including the Rust image crate, libwebp, rav1e (AVIF), SQLite and UniFFI, each under its own licence.
