Convert HEIC to AVIF: tiny files that browsers open

HEIC and AVIF are close cousins (both come from video codecs), but only AVIF opens in web browsers. If you publish iPhone photos online and want the smallest possible files, this is the pair. ConvertX decodes HEIC with Android's decoder and encodes AVIF on the phone.

HEIC: Apple's default photo format since 2017. Half the size of JPG, opens in few places outside Apple. AVIF: The newest format, smallest files, still not opened by everything. ConvertX writes it but cannot read it.

Nothing is uploaded

ConvertX converts on the device. There is no server, no account and no file size or count limit beyond your storage. Location and camera details are removed from every output unless you turn on "Keep photo details" (AVIF output never carries them in ConvertX).

Is AVIF smaller than HEIC?

Similar at the same quality; AVIF's advantage is browser support, not size.

Why not just use HEIC on the web?
